Farming Gold in WoW Cataclysm

When world of warcraft first released 6 years ago, gold was very limited and was not easy to accumulate. The only known way to farm gold back in the Basic game was to go out and grind monsters until you got the amount of gold that you desired. This took so long and to get even a few hundred gold was exhausting and wore out the actual fun of the game. The only other options at that time were to farm herbs and ore or to make items with professions, but you would still have to go out and grind to do so. With gold being so hard to obtain people would resort to purchasing gold from these foreign websites were they would often get scammed or banned for the purchase of gold from an IP address that was so far away from theirs. With the mount cost of 1000 gold everyone wanted gold but didn't want to go through the endless hours of grinding.

Gold Farming Gets Easier in Every Expansion

With every new expansion that is released it seems that there is some new feature or method of making gold that makes it much easier to obtain. In Burning Crusade they released the Dailies which were quests that you could do every day and each one would give you about 10-15 gold and you wouldn't have to go out and grind for hours. Items also became more valuable and items sold for a lot more to vendors and in the auction house.

Farming Gold in Cataclysm

With the new release of cataclysm everyone is wondering how to farm gold in the new expansion. It isn't hard to get a new chunk of gold in this new expansion. The best time to farm gold is right when new expansions like cataclysm come out. Everything is overpriced on the auction house and there is more demand then supply so the prices sky rocket. In the first week of the release of cataclysm expansion I made 40,000 gold just from selling herbs, ore and jems that I farmed while leveling. The prices of course have gone down on everything now and it has once again become harder to get large amounts of gold. There are still dailies, professions, and many other ways to make gold in cataclysm though.

What to farm in Cataclysm?

When grinding mobs and farming items you want to make sure you are spending your time farming the items that will sell for the most gold and that have the highest demand at the time because the more demand then the higher the gold amount you will get and also the quicker the items will sell. Also, if you have a gathering profession you may want to consider farming with that and then using another profession to turn the raw mats into items that may have more demand at the time. Every server is different so it is up to you to go to your auction house and do some research on what items you should be farming. Look around in your auction house and look for items that you would know where to farm. If you find an item that is prices high and that doesn't have many auctions posted then that would be a good item to farm! Also remember that raw materials that you farm can always be used to turn into something more valuable! This is why so many people buy herbs and ore in bulk.

Don't Want to Farm Gold?

If you are one that just doesn't have the time to farm gold in WoW then your best bet would to find a good person to buy gold from or use wow farming bots to automate game play while you are at work. The wow bots can farm items for you while you are not even at the computer. Remember though this is against blizzards TOS so don't be stupid when using bots!
